Quarter Final Kent Cup
Old Bordenians – 2
Gore Court - 4
Bordenians were looking forward to this local derby against a strong Gore Court team thriving one division above OB’s.
Gore Court came out very strongly from the first whistle, looking to ensure there were no embarrassments in store and they indeed took the lead after 2 minutes when they were allowed to run through the OBs defence and slot into an open goal. They continued to create chances but were frustrated at not finding the target. OBs gradually came into the game and were creating chances of their own, forcing several short corners but unable to convert them, before the half was finished, Gore Court added a second from a short corner and at half time OBs found themselves two goals down.
Bordenians were confident they could put themselves back in the game and came out in the second half very strongly and determined to fight for the game. They were rewarded when some good tackling and cool finishing from Glenn Prebblegot them back in the game. OBs continued a period of domination and created good opportunities thanks to some composed hockey. They were rewarded after 15 minutes when they equalized through Joe Meaning on the back post. OBs created several more chances after that and were unlucky not to take the lead however Gore Court continued strongly and dominated possession in the last 10 minutes and scored twice more to secure the win.
A very enjoyable and rewarding game for Old Bordenians, played competitively by both teams and in the right spirit.
