The Old Bordenian 6ths' unbeaten run of 2008 came to an end against a well organised Cliftonville team. Starting with extreme lethargy, the OBs were lucky not to be one or two goals down in the first 10 minutes. Gradually, they gained control and Stevens and Hood both came close before half-time. 

The second half started with both sides going all out to score, but Bordenians went behind when they were caught off-guard by a soft Cliftonville shot. Despite the OBs having more of the possession, Cliftonville's greater desire and firm defending gave them the upper-hand. Two further soft Cliftonville goals left Bordenians deflated and left to rue an uncharacteristically lacklustre performance.
