Old Bordenian 6th X1 – 2
Sutton Valence - 1
The Old Bordenian 6ths were hoping to continue their unbeaten run of 2008, but knew in Sutton Valence they were facing opposition who had beaten them in the last three outings. Most of the early attacks came from Sutton Valence, but for all their possession they created few chances. Gradually the OBs got themselves back in the game and their quicker passing and movement started to put pressure on the Valence defence and were rewarded when James Wilson gave them the lead with an acute angled shot.
The second half started with both sides going all out for further goals. The Bordenians added to their lead when a move started in defence and, without a Sutton player touching the ball, saw Chapman play Robinson in, to convert at close range. The game should have been put beyond Sutton, when Bollard shot wide with only the keeper to beat. Sutton Valance pulled a goal back, when the OBs failed to clear their lines and were now pressing hard for an equaliser. Good 'keeping from Dan Ford kept the OBs lead intact and their counter-attacking created chances which, but for some good 'keeping, would have increased their lead further. Another excellent team performance and the OBs continue to push their way toward the top of the table
