Old Bordenian 6th IX - 2
Welcome - 3
The OBs' 6ths gifted two early goals before taking control of this match. Playing some of their best hockey of the season, they created numerous chances, but found the Wellcome keeper in excellent form. The pressure finally paid when Robinson pulled a goal back just before half time
In the second half the OBs continued where they left off, creating all the chances, but were stunned by an excellent Wellcome strike, against the run of play, from the edge of the "D". Playing with great determination, the OBs scored a second, when Meaning finished off an excellent move of flowing hockey that had started deep in their defence. Relentless OB pressure resulted in a further string of saves and goal-line clearances from the Wellcome defence. In the last play of the game, Smith looked to have given the OBs a deserved equaliser with a well struck effort, but the goal was controversially disallowed.
