Cliftonville – 4

Old Bordenian 6th X1 - 2

Bordenians felt they were on tour at Cliftonville when they found out that the match was due to start one and a half hours later than scheduled. Cliftonville started the match with real intent and went a goal up after 15 minutes. This goal seemed to spur on OBs and gradually they started to get the better of the opposition and were rewarded by a superb Jamie Cashman effort turned in by poacher Collum Stevens at the far post. Despite being pinned down, Cliftonville added two further goals before the interval.

After the break the Old Boys again took control of the game and scored a second from a Craig Williams penalty stroke. A lapse in concentration gifted Cliftonville a fourth goal. The OBs continued to press and were frustrated when a superb Craig Williams drag-flick scored from a short corner, however, although the goal was given, the decision was overturned by the other umpire.

Gritty Cliftonville defending, particularly through a series of short corners, eventually gave them a hard fought victory.
