Holcombe – 2
Old Bordenian 6th X1 - 3
Old Bordenians started slowly and were fortunate to find themselves a goal up when Stevens scored from close range. Despite taking control of the game from then on, two lapses of concentration allowed Holcombe to lead 2-1 at the interval.
The second half was end to end with both sides playing some quality hockey. The strong midfield quartet of Smith, Meaning, Henley and Chapman continually opened up the Holcombe defence with some fine interplay and it was one of these moves which saw Smith, with pinpoint accuracy, set up Stevens who laid it off to Robinson for the easiest of goals. Bordenians then took the lead when Bollard put away a rebound from a searing Meaning free hit.
Holcombe came strongly at the OBs looking for an equaliser, but man of the match Will Horne was magnificent in defence and denied the home side any real opportunity of an equaliser.
