Old Bordenian 6th X1 – 8
Ashford - 0
From the start Bordenians set themselves up to play an organised and effective game. Joe Harrison started well in a new position up front and caused the Ashford defence lots of problems with his off the ball movement. After a few near misses the goals started to go in and despite several good attacks by Ashford Dan Ford managed to keep a clean sheet with some brave goalkeeping. Will Horne was invaluable in defence, firstly as an attacking left back and then adapting quickly to centre back when the team needed him to do so. Matthew Ledger, making a welcome return after a few years' absence, was a definite plus in the midfield with his energetic approach.
Bordenians ended up winning 8-0, but more importantly they knew they had played in a good game of hockey against some talented youngsters.
