Old Bodenian 5th XI – 5

Canterbury Griffins - 0

A convincing win by Old Bordenians' 5th XI came as a result of excellent team work.  The defence was solid, with several saves from James Anderson and some excellent tackling and clearances by Gilbert and the rest of the defence.  On the attack, Old Boys were most effective when they used the full width of the pitch with Pat Wiseman and Paul Hood distributing the ball with confidence.  During the first half, most of the pressure came from Bordenians but with several threatening attacks by Canterbury who suffered several pieces of bad luck that prevented them from scoring.  The first Bordenian goal came halfway through the first half with a well taken strike from Paul Gower.

The second half followed a similar pattern, however the home side were able to finish more attacks with goals from Gower and Craig Williams.  By this stage Canterbury were pushing up in numbers and cracks began to appear in their defence.  Matt Cook had a goal-bound ball touched in by Williams and Mike Leake completed the scoring with a strike from the left of the D.
