Canterbury – 3
Old Bordeninan 5th X1 - 7
Canterbury entertained the Old Bordenians Fifth Eleven in a friendly match due to a gap in league fixtures this week. The home team scored first against the run of play, but this was short-lived. Matt Roche won a penalty corner for the visitors and Craig Williams converted a trademark drag-flick. Moments later the Old Boys took the lead by means of another short corner, Nathan Glazer poaching at the back post after a good strike from Carl Linnell. Another Canterbury goal against the run of play saw the home team draw level, but this was short lived due to a fantastic pass from James Wilson, who picked out Williams in the D, deflecting in for his second. The Old Borderians came out in the second half looking to put the game beyond Canterbury and were more organised with some awesome hockey being played. Despite this, Canterbury were able to draw level, but this would be the last time they would be in the game. Some excellent work by Wilson and Roche led to David Baker, usually a goalkeeper, scoring his first of the game, shortly followed by his second, both well taken goals. A pin-point pass from Paul Gower picked out Williams in the D to flick in for his fourth and the Old Boys’ seventh to wrap up a convincing victory.
