Old Bordenian 5th X1 – 2

Tunbridge Wells - 1

The Old Bordenian fifth eleven went into this week’s game with several key players missing, including the team captain and vice captain. Despite this, they were looking to continue their winning streak that stretches back to Christmas. Tunbridge Wells started brightly and put the Old Boys on the back foot from the first whistle. After some early pressure, the home team were able to get back into the game and both sides had chances to take the lead. However, it was the visiting team that managed to take their chance first, after an unusual defensive slip-up. The lead did not last long though, and some excellent pass and move play between Paul Hood and Paul Young resulted in Young equalising. The Fifth eleven’s sixth 'keeper of the season, Rob Hoddinott, kept the scores at one apiece with some fantastic saves and had a superb debut. His job was made easier by the dependable back three of White, Crombie and Wiseman, who kept the Wells’ forwards at bay. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with Young getting his second very late on to secure a fourth consecutive victory for the home team.
