Canterbury Griffins – 3

Old Bordenians 5th XI - 7

Bordenians' 5th XI continued their successful post-Christmas run with an, ultimately, comfortable win against Canterbury Griffins. Old Boys started well with crisp passing, movement and defending.  Following several good attacks, Craig Williams scored his first goal of the game.  Soon after this good start, the Canterbury side began to become more organised - playing to their strengths and using their experience to control the game.  By half time, Griffins had equalised and taken the lead.

Bordenians came out after the break with renewed determination and returned to their effective passing game.  Ten minutes into the half, the pressure was beginning to tell and Canterbury's lead was only retained by an outstanding save from the home 'keeper.  Soon afterwards, the hard pressed Griffins defence folded and the visitors score three goals in the space of ten minutes, one each to Craig Williams, Paul Clunn and Paul Young.  The final quarter of the game became more balanced with a fourth goal for the ecstatic Williams and a second for Young.  Canterbury's late pressure resulted in a consolation goal.
