Old Bordenian 5th - 9
BBHC - 1
Old Bordenians' 5th XI had a successful start to the league season with a comprehensive win over a young BBHC side. Old Boys started strongly, drawing several good saves from the BBHC 'keeper before Paul Gower turned in the first goal. The next ten minutes went less well for Gower, missing an open goal, followed by stopping a goal-bound ball with his foot. During this period, BBHC had some strong attacks and looked threatening at set pieces, however Bordenians were countering strongly and Mike Leake scored from a Steve Dale pass. BBHC attacked from the restart, winning a short corner that was converted into a goal. This was rapidly followed up by a John Miller goal for Old Bordenians.
BBHC came out in a determined mood at the start of the second half and pushed hard for the first fifteen minutes. Once Bordenians had weathered the storm they counter-attacked and scored a flurry of goals: two more to Gower, another for Miller and one each for Steve Dale, Matt Cook and Paul Hood. Throughout this assault, the BBHC players continued to compete and their goalie made some outstanding saves.
