Sutton Valence – 1
Old Bordenian 5th XI - 2
Goalkeeper Sanj Atwal was the hero of the Old Bordenian 5th XI match. Throughout the game he made a series of outstanding saves and marshalled the defence impeccably.
In terms of possession, the first half was well balanced, with good attacks from both sides, however Bordenians always looked more threatening on the break and one such attack resulted in a pinpoint pass from Luke Williams to Craig Williams resulting in a goal. In the latter stages of the half, Craig Williams converted a penalty corner with an outstanding drag flick.
The second half began much like the first, however as time ran down Sutton Valence became stronger and this pressure eventually resulted in a goal. The last ten minutes mainly consisted of desperate defence by the visiting side, Crombie, White and Cook all playing leading roles, resulting in a narrow but well fought victory.
