Canterbury 6th X1 – 3

Old Bordenian 5th X1 - 2

This was a very much a game of two halves.  In the first period, Bordenians were playing into the sun.  Canterbury played as an efficient unit, using quick passes to dominate in mid field.  The Bordenian defence held out for fifteen minutes but eventually the home side were able to break through.  Bordenians had a few breaks but these rapidly broke down as passes went astray.  As the half continued, Canterbury struck twice more.

The visitors came out more strongly in the second half but both sides' attacks were diffused by effective defence and goalkeeping.  As the game entered its last quarter, Mike Leake passed to Craig Williams in the area who scored the first Bordenian goal.  At this stage, Old Boys brought on a third forward and continued to attack, eventually winning a short corner.  Paul Gower injected to Paul Clunn who returned the ball to Gower who turned it in.  During the final ten minutes, Canterbury continued to attack and hold on to the ball until their victory was confirmed by the final whistle.
