Sevenoaks - 1

Old Bordenian 4B X1 - 3

Bordenians engaged on a tricky game at Sevenoaks against side that traditionally presents a physical and pressing challenge, but on this occasion the home side were rarely in the game from the first whistle. Bordenians played a careful, composed, passing game throughout that had the opposition chasing shadows and when Sevenoaks gained possession, they gave it away far too easily allowing the visiting team to press once again. The first goal came after a sweeping move through central midfield when Sellar found Philp on the top of the area and he struck home powerfully past the 'keeper. With their dominance, it was only a matter of time before the second goal came, a short corner strike by Willis that passed through the helpless Sevenoaks ,keeper. Bordenians should have extended their goal tally further either side of the interval, but failure to make the most of numerous short corners meant that the game was not secure. Sevenoaks subsequently scored from a near post tap in towards the end of the game but this merely galvanised Bordenians and a second Willis short corner goal sealed the points in the last minute.
