Old Bordenian 4B X1 – 9

Cobdown – 0

Bordenians secured most of the possession in the first half through calm, controlled inter-passing but failed fully to convert this into a lead with a substantial margin which should have been more than the 2 – 0 which they took into the half-time break. The second half was a different story in which Old Bordenians stepped up both the pace and the extent of their control, playing excellent  hockey, breaking quickly from defence and also finding alternative points of attack via their back and midfield players when this was necessary, the effect of which was to add a further 7 goals to their tally. Cobdown, however, battled valiantly and never lost heart: their 'keeper's many saves belied his relative inexperience and his performance bodes well for the future.
