Old Bordenians 4B - 3
Folkestone - 1
Bordenians entered this early morning game as league leaders and the subsequent result, against mid table Folkestone, further consolidated their position. Playing from the outset well structured hockey the home side gradually forced a stubborn opposition back into their own half and it was little surprise that midway through the first period they scored the opening goal when Neil Willis followed up an initial shot lobbing the ball onto the far corner over a stranded keeper. Bordenians then increased their lead before the break when James Wilson coolly slotted away a penalty stroke.
Either side of the break the play became more ragged with too many missed passes and wasted opportunities by the home side, but Folkestone found it difficult to make any constructive impression on the home defence. Bordenians did however build pressure on themselves when a lack of concentration by their goalkeeper gifted Folkestone a goal. Bordenians did not allow this to cause them too much alarm and reasserted their dominance, with Rory Bollard poaching a goal late on to give the scoreline an air of realism.
