Blackheath 6th X1 - 0

Old Bordenian 4A X1 - 3

Bordenians had their usual fast start in this South London encounter with Sam Conway and Matt Luckhurst carving up the opposition. The D area was peppered time after time with chances from which only one goal came during the first half, a quickly taken free hit which was superbly deflected in by Nathan Cashman who had worked very hard to find the space. The defence of debutant Kevin Hughes, Steve Willis and Rob Elgar kept Blackheath at bay even though they were the busier during the second half. They soaked up the pressure well as Blackheath, looking for an equaliser, pushed forwards more and more, forcing numerous short corners from which skipper Tony Cashman deflected time and again to stop the first strike on goal. With Blackheath pushing up so much, this left open opportunities for the Old Boys to exploit: Chris Hearnden and Jeremy Hewlett slotted away a goal  apiece to make the final score 3-0: not Old Boy's best performance, but a well ground out result all the same.
