Old Bordenian 3rdXI  - 3

Canterbury Millers - 2

A win was vital for the Swale side if they were to keep in touch with the leading pair of teams in the league, but the way in which they coped with Canterbury's high work rate did not suggest that most of the team were aware of it. There was an inevitability about Canterbury being the first team to score, which came courtesy of the ball being given away. Only three times in the first half did Bordenians get the combination of good ball speed and the use of the pivot right. On one occasion the shot missed the goal. On the second the 'keeper made a good save and on the third Dale fired high into the middle of the goal to even things up.

Early in the second half, the ball found its way to Dale and OBs were in the lead. This was short lived, and the 'Bourne unit soon went back to their old ways of gifting the ball to Canterbury and the score was level again. However, in the last ten minutes,. Bordenians started to play some good hockey.  They should have taken the lead but the stroke was missed. However it did not matter as Aldison slipped a pass to the elder Dale who made no mistake in placing the ball beyond the 'keeper and the game beyond Canterbury.
