Old Bordenian 3rd XI – 3

Gravesham – 2

Bordenians started this game with a desire to change the result from last week.  From the start it was obvious this would be a hard fought game.  Receiving the ball deep in his own half, Michael Neame carried the ball up the pitch and was able to do a good one two with Nick Thompson and, on the return pass, struck the ball into the back of the goal.

With the start of the second half, the Old Boys came under increased pressure and were unlucky to concede a goal.  From this hint that they had not won the game yet, the maroons came back with renewed vigour.  This led to Steve Dale getting the ball at the top of the D and lifted it over the 'keeper to put them back into the lead.  Unfortunately the away side sat back and had to produce some good defencive work, with Neil Ranger making some great saves and Andrew Charlesworth clearing a shot from the line, keeping them in the lead.  But it was only a matter of time until Gravesham were able to score another goal, making it even again.  With only a few minutes to go, the Old Boys were able to change their style of play back into attack again and, from the break of a failed Gravesham attack, Pat Ruane received the ball just outside his own 25 and looking up saw Steve Dale start a run to put himself into position to receive the pass, and put the ball into the back of the goal, putting the Old Boys into the lead.  With the final score of 3 – 2, the Old Boys are looking forward to next week's game against Cliftonville at home.
