Old Bordenian 3rd XI - 3
Sevenoaks – 2
It may not have gone unnoticed that the Old Bordenian 3s have a habit of choosing the hard way to win games. It was another one of those weeks. OBs played the first half at a good pace and with a high tempo. They were rewarded by a goal after a quick passing move gave Ricky Dale the opportunity to bang home the opening goal. Sevenoaks were not without their chances, mainly from short corners. One drag-flick allowed Ranger to pull off an “E.K.G.” save, but it turned out that the photographer on the side-line was nothing to do with the press, much to Ranger’s disgust. Soon after, a particularly slick piece of inter-passing between Wiseman and Neame set up Thompson for the second chalk. An unfortunately soft goal right on half time let in Sevenoaks, an advantage which they followed up in the second half with a second goal. Abject would be a reasonable description of the Bordenians' performance. With two minutes to go, Borden finally recerted to playing as they had in the first half and carved open the Sevenoaks defence to leave Thompson in front of an open goal. He eventually controlled the ball well enough to roll it over the line and grab the points.
