Old Bordenian 3rdXI – 2

Blackheath – 1

Knowing that they were playing a team placed higher in the league this week, Bordenians set out to stamp their mark on the game from the start.  For the first 5 minutes it was not going the way they wanted, but once the home side settled, they started to contest Blackheath for control of the game.  In the last 15 minutes of the half, the maroons were forcing regular attacks on goal, which finally paid off with Nick Thompson scoring from a short corner.

After a quick turn around at half time due to atrocious weather conditions, it soon became clear that the Bordenians were going to continue their attack on Blackheath, when a great pass from Mark Giblin from the base line allowed Nick Thompson to get a great shot from a tight angle into the back of the goal giving the home side a 2 – 0 lead. The determined Blackheath side scored before the final whistle to leave the final score at 2 – 1.
