Old Bordenian 2nd X1 – 7

Worthing - 4

The Old Boys halted a losing run with an end-to-end, feisty encounter with Worthing this weekend. Looking to secure one more win to avoid a relegation battle this season, the Old Boys came out of the blocks all guns firing and with a new formation. The new dungeons and dragons front pair of Blades and Archer immediately paid dividends with Archer putting the Old Boys two up. But Worthing struck back immediately before Sage scored a short corner to make it 3 – 1. However, the Old Boys could not put Worthing away and they pulled another back before half-time. The second half saw an opportunity to put the game beyond Worthing but another missed stroke by Scholfield meant Worthing were back in after scoring again. Archer fired in his third to take the lead one more time but a rarely seen goalkeeping error by Bond brought Worthing level again.

Bordenians eventually got themselves sorted out and three gaols by Archer, Blades and veteran Youdale secured the points.  Man of the match was Youdale who, despite recovering from man-'flu, stepped into the centre midfield and ran the game. Next week league leaders Canterbury.
