Sutton Valence – 2

Old Bordenian 1st X1 - 3

Its four out of five in the league now for Old Bordenisns but they are not getting carried away, just taking a game at a time.

As usual the OBs started out strong and created good early opportunities and were unlucky not to be leading within the first 10 minutes, however SV are a strong team and were patient to get into the game.  After 20 minutes it was SV that made the breakthrough with the ball falling kindly to their skipper after a poor short corner routine.  They doubled their advantage within another five minutes again from a short corner despite the best of the chances falling to OBs.  One of those chances was converted for OBs before the half was over thanks to some great vision from Jack Bayford and a cool finish from Neil Hall.

Despite the one goal deficit the initiative was with OBs thanks to the late goal in the first half, again OBs came out the stronger and created several good chances before Joe Meaning continued his scoring spree with an accurate short corner drag flick.  OBs were spurred on by this continued positive attitude and were rewarded with 15 minutes remaining when they took the lead for the first time in the game thanks to Richard Cooper.  Heavy pressure followed from that point as Sutton Valance pushed for the equaliser but unfortunately for them the closest they could come was the side netting and the back fence.  OBs stood strong and some solid tackling from the entire team secured another three points for the Old Boys.

Once again character and true desire to win ensured OBs secured another win and they look forward to entertaining Herne Bay next week at Borden Grammar School.
