Old Bordenian - 3

Tunbridge Wells - 2

Old Bordenians moved back up into fourth place in the Kent / Sussex Regional league with a well earned win on Saturday.

After a narrow defeat the week before, Bordenians came out fast from the first whistle and were one goal up in the first minute when Joe Meaning converted a penalty flick. OBs continued to create good opportunities but were just not finding the back of the net.  T.Wells had equal possession in the first half but the OBs defence dealt with them comfortably and allowed few goal scoring opportunities.

With just the one goal margin, the second half was evenly contested, OBs looking to make it safe with a second goal and T.Wells looking to put themselves back in the game.  It was OBs who made the breakthrough when Jack Bayford casually deflected the ball in for the second, but this was not before 'keeper Richard Ford had kept T.Wells out with a fantastic one-on-one save two minutes earlier.

OBs should have looked to close the game out from here but perhaps a little complacency crept into the team and they allowed T.Wells back in the game on two occasions levelling the scores with five minutes remaining.  OBs quickly responded to this and created several good chances in the last five minutes one of which was converted by Richard Cooper with the help of a small deflection.

OBs showed great character and determination as a team and will look to take this into next week when they travel to Eastbourne.
