Marden Russets – 0
Old Bordenian 1st X1 - 0
Old Bordenian were happy to come away with a point on Saturday in a gritty game at Marden and were pleased to collect their first clean sheet of the season.
In what was a fairly even game, Marden created the clearer chances in the first half but, thanks to some heroic goalkeeping from Richard Ford, they were kept at bay. OBs had opportunities to take the lead and enjoyed some long periods of possession but a very solid Marden defence ensured the chances were few and far between.
The second half was much in the same vein as both teams created chances but the defences remained strong. With the final whistle gone, Marden thought they had snatched the winner from a short corner but a clear infringement by a Marden foot ruled out the goal and left the teams sharing the points.
Previously having had two consecutive defeats in the league, OBs were glad to take a point and cement their position in the league. Next week OBs entertain Folkestone at Borden Grammar School.
