Old Bordenian 1st X1 – 5

Eastbourne - 4

OBs made hard work for themselves but were worthy winners over Eastbourne on Saturday.

OBs came out of the blocks fast from the first minute and created 4 or 5 very good chances of which they took one thanks to a little flair and a calm finish from Iain Burwood They continued to create good chances throughout the first half dominating the play.  Eastbourne created just the one chance in the first half but were fortunate to convert from a fortuitous drag-flick.

Eastbourne came into the second half confident from their equaliser late in the first half and within 7 minutes had managed to score twice to give them the initiative.  Bordenians knew the game was always in their hands and after some sustained pressure started to get back in the game thanks to a clinical short corner conversion from Joe Meaning.  Three minutes later Iain Burwood collected his second of the game to put OBs level and then set up Glenn Prebble to give OBs the lead. Bordenianss continued to dominate the game and looked to have made it safe when Joe Love scored their fifth.  With four minutes remaining Eastbourne forced a short corner and despite a superb double save from 'keeper Richard Ford the ball fell kindly to their centre forward who converted easily.

A well deserved win for the Old Boys showing real character and composure to come back from a two goal deficit.  Next week OBs travel to Sutton Valence in the league and on Sunday entertain Newbury & Thatcham in the HA Trophy.
