Tunbridge Wells – 2
Old Bordenian 1st X1 - 4
Old Bordenianss collected their second win of the first three league games in the Kent/Sussex Regional League.
OBs set out their stall very quickly and were controlling the game from the first minute thanks to excellent team work and composed hockey. The breakthrough came after 10 minutes when OBs put together a great team move culminating in a cool finish from David Wherrell. OBs continued through the first half to dominate the game and 10 minutes later extended their lead thanks to an accurate drag flick from Joe Meaning giving OBs a comfortable lead at half-time.
OBs again came out strongly and positively in the second half and were creating good chances but were unlucky not to find the back of the net. As the game progressed, T Wells began to apply the pressure and two short corners in the space of 5 minutes put them right back in the game and they could have taken the lead if not for a goal line clearance from Gowan Youdale. OBs re-grouped and got back on their game, dominating the last fifteen minutes and calm finishing from Glenn Prebble and Iain Burwood restored OBs' two goal advantage and sealed the victory they deserved.
A comprehensive victory for Old Bordenians thanks to excellent team work and disciplined hockey. On Saturday OBs entertain Eastbourne at Borden Grammar School, 13:30 push back
