Old Bordenian 1st X1 – 7

Burnt Ash - 4

As expected, Bordeninas were made to fight hard for three points on Saturday as Burnt Ash fight for survival in the Kent/Sussex Regional League.

Following a disappointing finish to the first half of the season, Bordenians were keen to get back on track and back to winning ways. This was apparent in the first five minutes when Iain Burwood put the home team ahead: Burnt Ash however came back strongly, equalising ten minutes later.  OBs, struggling to stamp their mark on the game, did manage to regain the lead thanks to Joe Meaning's conversion of a penalty flick but this was again cancelled out before half time when Burnt Ash also converted a penalty flick.

The second half began in much the same way as the first, Bordenians regaining the lead through an excellent strike from Richard Cooper only to see the lead go shortly after and then for Burnt Ash to take the lead for the first time in the game.  OBs knew there were more goals in them and composed themselves for a twenty minute assault on the Burnt Ash defence. Goals from Glenn Prebble and three more for Joe Meaning, giving him four in total, made certain of the three points for Old Bordenians

Burnt Ash showed great determination however OBs showed great character and belief and eventually let their hockey do the talking. OBs travel to Worthing next week full of confidence and with a score to settle, having lost narrowly to the now second placed club in this division.
