Horsham – 5

Old Bordenian 1st X1 - 2

Bordenians suffered only their second defeat of this league campaign despite dominating the early stages of the game.

It was a dream start for OBs as they took he lead within one minute of the start thanks to a Joe Love drag-flick which rifled into the corner of the goal. The joy was short- lived though as Horsham were allowed to run through for a soft equaliser just five minutes later.  OBs dominated possession from that point but were unable to convert that into goals and before the half was over Horsham took the lead when the ball bounced kindly to them in a scrappy altercation.

Being up against it going into the second half is nothing  new for OBs and they came out fighting and within 5 minutes of the restart they were on level terms thanks to a cool deflection from Iain Burwood. This would normally be the stepping stone for OBs to go on and win the game from there, however Horsham hit back hard and had taken the lead back within five minutes and, with two OB’s players receiving yellow cards in the second half, they played long periods of the game with ten men giving Horsham the advantage.

This was a good reminder for OBs that they are in a very tough league and they look to bounce back from this defeat when they entertain league leaders Ashford at Borden Grammar School next Saturday.
