Old Bordenian 1st X1 – 1

Marden Russets - 2

With the opportunity of securing their place in the Kent/Sussex regional league on Saturday, OBs should have been out of the blocks quickly but found themselves lacking the desire to achieve what they deserve.

In a scrappy first half, the lead was taken by Marden Russetts with a well worked move, this forced OBs into pushing on more and they were rewarded when David Wherrell converted from a short corner to level the scores.  It stayed level through until half time and the goal for OBs sent them into half time in the right frame of mind.

OBs came out positively in the second half, creating several chances but, as so often has happened this season, unable to find the back of the net. Halfway through the second half, Marden took the lead with a breakaway goal.  Rather than fighting to get an equaliser, OBs let their heads drop and never really looked like getting the game back on level terms, let alone winning the game.

A performance lacking in passion and desire means that OBs visit Folkestone next week with the pressure still on and points still needed.  If OBs wish to remain in this league then the team needs to fight for that right and stand up and be counted.
