Old Bordenian 1st X1 – 4

Folkestone - 5

Old Bordenians threw away what would have been a comfortable three points on Saturday.

Dominating the entire first half, Bordenians could have found themselves three or four goals up at half-time if they had taken their chances but went in one goal up thanks to Joe Meaning converting from the top of the area.

For the first few minutes of the second half, Folkestone put on the pressure but OBs soon found their feet again and regained control of the game, adding two goals in the first 10 minutes thanks to Joe Meaning again and a Joe Love half volley on the back post.  OBs then became complacent and, predictably, Folkestone identified their opportunity and pulled it back to 3 – 2. This shocked OBs who quickly hit back to give them a two goal advantage but then proceeded to make basic errors and again show complacency, gifting Folkestone three goals to steal the points.

Whilst there were many positive points to take from the game, there are lessons to be learnt as Bordenians continue to develop as a team.
