Old Bordenian Under-14 X1 – 1
Marden Under 14 X1 - 1
The Old Boys took control from the start against Marden, not allowing the visitors out of their half for the first ten minutes. An excellent low drive from James Wilson off a short corner gave them the lead and seemed to signal the likelihood of further goals. However Marden counter-attacked well and they found a hole in the home defence to equalise before the break.
In the second half the Old Boys again applied most of the pressure with Edward Hewlett, Rory Bollard both going close, before a James Wilson pile-driver produced an excellent goal line clearance from the Marden defence. The visitors showed great resilience and came close themselves in the dying minutes. The Old Boys, with a number of young inexperienced players, will consider themselves unlucky not to have won, with their youngest player Edward Hewlett in particular showing skill and awareness beyond his years
