Playing against an older and physically bigger side, the OBs found themselves hemmed inside their own half for most of the first 15 minutes, An excellent defence of Baker, Tummons, Simpson, Hendry and Crombie denied Burnt Ash a goal. Starting to play with more confidence, the OBs created a number of chances, with Bollard forcing the Ash 'keeper to make some excellent saves. However Ash scored first following a poor clearance. The OBs again showed great determination with Hewlett and Juanes working hard in midfield and were rewarded when Bollard equalised from a short corner. Caught in possession inside the Ash half, the OB defenders found themselves outnumbered and conceded a second goal just before half-time

In the second half the OBs played their best hockey of the season and started to take the Ash defence apart with Durrell, Spillet and Hewlett all going close. Finally Bollard beat three defenders before hammering a cross for Shelly to show excellent reactions and score at close range. Towards the end, the older Ash side looked slightly stronger, but were unable seriously to threaten the OBs' defence.
